At a time when the public conversation about people seeking safety has become increasingly hostile and polarised, many of us feel deeply uncomfortable with what we are hearing and don't recognise ourselves or our values in what is being said and done.

This Christmas, we want to tell a different story: one about compassion, kindness and welcome, which we believe reflects the work of Boaz and the character of our friends, supporters and partners across Greater Manchester far more than the rhetoric we see in the headlines or the policies being announced.

In the current climate, we’ve been exploring the use of illustration as an alternative to photography or videography to represent people we work with. For this year’s Christmas Appeal, we’ve collaborated with a talented local illustrator to capture the likeness of Brktiy,* who has shared her story with us.

You can find out more about this year's Christmas Appeal - including an animation spotlighting the challenges faced by people newly granted refugee status - by clicking the button below.

If you're in a position to donate to the appeal, anything you can give will make a real difference to the people we work with. Your support says something powerful; that even in difficult times, we are not led by fear and hate, but by kindness and solidarity with people in need. This is who we are.
