Sadly, since the Covid pandemic we have not been running our hosting scheme, however due to the overwhelming interest in hosting following news coverage of the crises in Afghanistan and more recently Ukraine we wanted to share some useful information for anyone who is interested in welcoming refugees in this way.

Our friends at the NACCOM network are serving as a triage service for hosting organisations, including groups working in Greater Manchester. If you are interested in exploring hosting refugees and people seeking asylum no matter where they come from, we would highly recommend completing NACCOM's Happy To Host form.

The UK Government has now announced some more details of their Homes for Ukraine hosting scheme and you can register your interest on their website here. We are still waiting for more information about how the scheme will work, in terms of matching, safeguarding and supporting both guests and hosts. We understand that charities and faith groups will be involved in the matching process, including the Sanctuary Foundationwhich is another place where you can pledge your interest in supporting hosting and future community-based sponsorship programmes.

We hope this information is useful. If you are keen to welcome refugees in your community, why not write and tell your local MP? With the new Nationality and Borders Bill making its way through parliament, at Boaz we believe it is more important than ever that we speak out in support of people who have had no choice but to flee their homes and are seeking sanctuary here in the UK.

Do you have a spare room? Fancy putting it to good use?

The Boaz Trust began life as a hosting organisation in 2004. Since then, we’ve offered over 280 hosting placements across Greater Manchester.

“Boaz gave me somewhere to live and supported me. I was living with hosts who were really nice and welcomed me and helped me to feel at home in their house even though I was a stranger.”
(F, Cameroon)

Hosting is an essential part of what we do and who we are as an organisation. Hosting is a very practical way that we can offer welcome, hospitality, friendship and kindness to people who are seeking sanctuary.

But the benefits are two-way. Many of our hosts have told us how their lives have been enriched through the people who have stayed with them.

The Boaz Trust is registered in England and Wales under charity number 1110344 at Kath Locke Centre, 123 Moss Lane East, Manchester M15 5DD. We use cookies to improve your experience using this website.
