On a beautiful June evening a few weeks ago, we had our first Family Night of 2023! The halls were decked with flags of different nations, as well as handmade bunting with 'welcome' in languages from Welsh to Amharic.
The night kicked off as usual with some amazing food from around the world, including injera, chapatis and doro wat. People gathered around tables and on sofas, and the back two rooms of the venue were a hubbub of conversation.
Following some excellent dessert, everyone moved through to sit together and listen to two beautiful songs that spoke of home. While doing so, each person wrote down something about what home meant to them.
We then heard a CEO's update from Ros, which included an overview of what we'd been up to in the last six months and an introduction to our new vision and mission. We also formally thanked our Housing Manager, Mark, for all he has given in his past ten years at Boaz, ahead of him moving on to new things in the near future.
Afterwards, we heard from two women currently supported by Boaz. They shared their stories courageously and powerfully from the front, speaking of the impact that Boaz has had in their lives.
The evening was so great that we've already got the date for the next Family Night confirmed - keep Monday 4th December 2023 free in your diary - we'd love to see you there!
Finally, we're keen to keep reflecting on and improving the way we do things at Boaz, so we have a short survey on Family Night that we'd love for you to fill out. Even if you couldn't make it to the one in June - or have never been - please do take the survey and let us know what you think because we really value your opinion!
