All of us at the Boaz Trust are heartbroken by the appalling loss of life that has occurred in the Channel. We are thinking of and praying for all those connected to those affected, both near and far. This tragedy was avoidable, and it is vital that action is taken now to prevent further deaths.  I encourage you to read Boaz’s full response here, and to follow the action points we outline.

In our statement, we reflect on the continued hostility shown towards refugees and people seeking asylum that is pushing people into danger on a daily basis. As you know, it doesn’t have to be like this. We’re so grateful that you, as a friend and supporter of Boaz, reject this and instead want to welcome and extend generosity and kindness to people seeking sanctuary and safety – thank you. One of the ways that we can do this is by coming together, listening and learning from people seeking sanctuary.

In a couple of weeks, we have an opportunity to do exactly that. Along with our friends at Heart & Parcel, we’re running a live cookalong with Rahel from Boaz. As well as learning from Rahel how to cook a delicious traditional dish, we’ll also be sharing more about the work of Boaz.

It may seem like a small act, but joining in with this cookalong is a great way to say yes to welcoming, supporting and seeing people, and we’d love you to join us on Thursday 9th December from 6.30-8.30pm. You can either sign up to be part of the Zoom here, or for the YouTube livestream here. Thank you again for standing with people seeking sanctuary and those with refugee status – at this time, more than ever, that means so much.
