We haven’t let this season of social distancing (or would physical distancing be a more accurate description?) keep us apart as a team. Thanks to technology old and new we've found multiple ways to keep connected, although Zoom fatigue is definitely a thing! We have our daily team meetings each morning and our client support team have a daily afternoon optional check-in where any issues, joys and challenges can be shared with each other. We've used Google hangouts for quick chats and calls, Zoom for management 1:1s and of course there's always the humble mobile or landline. We’ve celebrated team birthdays together online and we’ve enjoyed being able to meet members of the team Boaz family including cats, children and more!

We’ve also managed some socially distant face-to-face contact with each other throughout lockdown. Picking up deliveries for clients, handing over keys for house visits, collecting generous donations from supporters, all these have presented precious opportunities to see each other in the flesh and catch up - responsibly of course. We’ve held our regular car park parties which have made it possible to hand over weekly client food allowances as well as divvying up donations of fresh fruit and vegetables for taking out to our shared houses. And from our team Thrive sessions to trustee meetings, we've continued to come together to deliver our all-important services as well as keep our team bonds strong, share in life, learn together and plan for the future.

As lockdown starts to ease for some of us, we’re carrying out risk assessments, consulting with clients and staff and making plans to ensure that we can re-open our office in the safest possible way at the right time. We look forward to when we can physically be together in the office again but in the meantime as we continue to all work remotely, we’re just glad that we’ve been able to keep a strong sense of connection through these past four months.
