Thanks to some very generous supporters, we have been able to open four boazhouses. Three of them are in Moston, North Manchester, which is a regeneration area, and a fourth in Rusholme.

By working with Freedom Properties, a Christian company, houses can be purchased at auction and refurbished. The supporter retains ownership and allows Boaz to rent the house for £1 per annum. We then select the residents, furnish and maintain the properties, and pay the bills.

Currently we are accommodating in this way 6 Ethiopian women, 4 Eritrean women, 5 Darfuri Sudanese men, 3 Congolese, 1 Angolan and 1 Guinean man.

Nigel Biggs, Housing Manager, does a fabulous job not only looking after the buildings but also the residents. We have been able to obtain some short-term funding that will mean that Nigel can go full-time in the New Year. This will make a vast difference to the quality of support that we will be able to offer.

Our aim is to be able to offer every resident a choice of meaningful activities, whether it is volunteering with us or another charity, making beautiful craft items to help us raise funds, attending college courses or tending our garden at Mora Street.
